Best performing cryptocurrency in september 2020
If we don’t look at market cap ranking we see that the best performers of September 2020 are, just like last month, among Altcoins. Best performing coin is the quite unknown Eureka Coin, which provided a monthly return on investments (ROI) of 356.61 %. Runner up is Temco that provided an ROI of 145.91%. At the third place of best performers we find a more familiar name, being Celcius Network (CEL), noting a ROI of 121.21%.
These performances seemed to be the exemption to the conclusion that september was not the month for Altcoin Season. Analyses by Cointelegraph show that no less than 93% of the top 250 Altcoins were losing in september.
Some of these losses were severe. Worst performer over the month september was SYB Coin, losing 87.52%. Slightly worse was InMax (INX) losing 77.21%. This negative top three is completed by Essentia (ESS) that noted a loss of exactly 75% over september.
However, these are small- or mid-cap cryptocurrencies. Since we are focusing on the top 25 of the market we are providing an overview of the performance of the larger cryptocurrencies as well.
These are the best and worst performing top 25 cryptocurrencies
Within the top 25 of cryptocurrencies (based on market cap) Tron (TRX) was holding the red lantern for September with a loss of 19.47 %. Runner up ChainLink (LINK) had to suffer a loss of 17.78 % and Tezos (XTZ) is once again, just like last month, among the worst performers with a loss of 11.23%.
Best performing cryptocoin in the top 25 in September was, just as last month NEO (NEO), that gained 9.29 %. Leo Token (LEO) is a proud runner up, providing 9.17% ROI. The third place for this month is occupied by Bitcoin SV (BSV), providing a 6.64% ROI.
The relatively low ROI indicates that september was not the best month for the crypto-industry. This feeling gets confirmed when we conclude that only 6 of the top-25 cryptocurrency were able to provide a positive result in September 2020. Of course we want to know if Bitcoin is among these six.
What was the ROI for Bitcoin in september 2020?
For Bitcoin (BTC) September was a month with ups and downs. However, in the end the monthly ROI was 5.28% which was better than the ROI over August 2020. That’s remarkable, since historically seen September is a notorious bad month for the largest cryptocurrency around.
Moreover, Bitcoin BTC is the only top-3 currency that was able to provide a positive return on investment. Ripple (XRP) had a flat month (0.00 % ROI) while Ethereum (ETH) suffered a small loss. (-0.12%).
What are the quarterly results for Bitcoin and the largest cryptocurrencies?
The end of september also means the end of the third quarter of the year. Of course we also take a look at the quarterly results.
Over the last quarter, Neo (NEO) was the best performing cryptocurrency in the top-25 by delivering a 71.23% ROI. Runner up is Cosmos (ATOM), that provided a 47.27% ROI which was enough to hold Binance Coin (BNB) on the third place despite a ROI of 45.61%.
Where there are winners there also have to be losers. September made no exemption, so the worst performing cryptocurrency was Cardano (ADA), losing 26.93%. Stellar (XLM) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) losing respectively 21.86% and 20.26%.
Bitcoin (BTC) was also at the losing end, mostly due to the bad performance in the beginning of this quarter and noted a quarterly loss of 2.01%.
